A suburban housewife's guide to raising babies and children in a socially, environmentally, and fiscally responsible way. We believe that sustainable living is critically important and may be easily achieved by incorporating simple ideas into everyday life. Food Bank Theft & How You Can Help
This goes under the label of "things that make me very sad." A food bank in the Washington, DC area was recently robbed and over 1000 pounds of canned food were stolen! The food bank is run by an organization called Alexandrians Involved Ecumenically (ALIVE) and serves some of the neediest people in the area. If you live in the DC area please look into your pantries and consider donating. ALIVE volunteers will be accepting food donations from noon to 3 p.m. Saturday at their main headquarters at 2723 King St. The organization shares space with Alexandria First Christian Church. Volunteers also will be accepting donations on Monday. The greatest need is for canned meats and fish. If you're in North Arlington then I can arrange to come pick up the canned goods at your house. Please email sustainababy@gmail.com for more info.
